Privacy policy

Version: 0.1-draft

Draft: needs a legal review before it is relied on.

Who we are. ByteDent is software for dental clinics. This policy explains what we collect from visitors of this website and from the clinics that use the program.

Website data. This website sets no tracking cookies and uses no third-party analytics. The Contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are a person.

The contact form. When you send the form we store what you write (name, clinic, phone or e-mail, city, message) so that we can reply. We store your network address only as a salted hash, never as it is. Old inquiries are deleted automatically after the period we set (24 months by default).

Clinic data. Patient records are stored encrypted on the clinic's computers. If a clinic turns sync on, only encrypted copies pass through our server.

Recovery access. So that your data can be recovered if you lose your computers or your recovery code, ByteDent also keeps a protected copy of the clinic's encryption key. The copy is encrypted with a separate key that is held only in ByteDent's server settings. This means ByteDent can technically access your clinic's data for recovery purposes. We release the key only to the clinic owner who signs in with the owner's e-mail address and password (and the authenticator code, if the owner turned that on). Every release is recorded with the date, the computer and the network address, and the owner is e-mailed. ByteDent staff do not use this access except at the owner's request for recovery, and every such use is recorded.

Doctors' schedule on the phone. If the owner turns this service on, we keep an encrypted schedule and its key, and ByteDent can technically read it.

Diagnostic reports. Optional, and sent through a strict scrubber that does not allow patient data.

Your rights. Under Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 you have the right to know and access your personal data, correct it, ask for its deletion and object to its processing. To exercise them, write to us from the Contact page.

Changes. We update the version number and the effective date above whenever this policy changes.
